Over-the-counter health consultation & on-site consultation

Our professional staff members offer expertise in finding solutions for various problems concerning occupational health. Over-the-counter consultation, as well as consultation via telephone, facsimile or the Internet is available. In addition, our staff members visit work sites to provide professional advice and introduce specific methods for more effective workplace patrol.

Information provision

Books and video (DVD) materials in the field of occupational health are available for reading and viewing. Users may check out books or copy the materials at actual cost. Informational magazines are published periodically　(four times per year) covering various aspects of occupational health.

Training

Practical and professional training for occupational health is conducted. For training held outside of our center, instructors are dispatched and training materials are prepared upon request.

Public relations activities and awareness building

PR activities such as management seminars are conducted for employers in an effort to deepen their understanding of the significance of occupational health at work sites.

Support for mental health strategy

Consultants (psychiatrist, doctor of psychosomatic medicine, counselor, public health nurse, etc.) (5), expediters (3), and clerical staff (1) were added to our center on a part-time basis. Their activities were mainly consultation, dissemination of good practices of mental health strategies, and the offering of psychiatric information.

Research

Research is conducted to further promote occupational health activities. Research results 　 are effectively reflected and utilized in occupational health activities such as various 　 seminars and training programs.

Support to the introduction of stress check

From December 2,015 Japan’s Industrial Safety and Health Act will require employers regularly employing 50 workers or more to offer an annual stress check to employee.

Granting subsidies

Subsides for　companies with less than 50 workers: (1)activities of occupational physician, 100,000 yen/6 months, two times. (2) Introduction of stress check; 500yen/ a worker, doctor’s interview & guidance;21,500 yen, three times/year
No limitation of worker’s number： (1 ) To make a plan of improving work environment and its implementation. ( 100,000 yen (Equipment:50,000 yen, guiding price; 50,000 yen) (2) To make a plan of promotion of mental health and its implementation of mental health strategies according to the plan. (100,000 yen, supply at a uniform rate)

Providing support for the cancer survives aｔ work field

Thirty two and five thousand workers visiting the hospital because of cancer. Percentage of companies that have workers who are absent from work for more than one month due to illness are 38% for mental health disorders, 21% for cancer, and 12% for cerebrovascular disease, respectively.

Providing support for Regional Occupational Health Centers

A total of 347 Regional Occupational Health centers have been established by the Ministry of Health, Labor, and Welfare nationwide. Operation of these regional centers, which provide occupational health services such as individual health guidance at work sites for companies with less than 50 employees, is entrusted to the medical association in each region. Fukuoka Occupational Health Support Center supports activities of 12 Regional Occupational Health Centers within Fukuoka Prefecture
